A New Home for Same As U

Same As U has operated out of White River Christian Church since January 2020. After tremendous growth, Same As U soon reached capacity at the church and looked forward to having their own campus. The opportunity to purchase an existing building came along and Same As U began a Building Campaign in the fall of 2021.  

 

By the grace of God, Same As U closed on this campus the summer of 2022 and started renovations. The new campus allows room for needed growth to serve more young adults with disabilities and is situated on nearly 6 acres of land for future expansion, student activities, and making more dreams come true. 

 

Same As U invites you to partner with us as continue to help our students live the life they imagine! We are so grateful to be on this journey and excited to have a forever home and alma mater for the students of Same As U. But the work is not done. Same As U has BIG DREAMS for these young adults. Your gift today will help us equip our new campus and set in motion great things to come for the current and future students of Same As U! 

 

Thank you for considering joining our mission as we work to further the mission of Same As U by creating a Christ-centered, college-like setting for our students to live the life they imagine. Our goal is to provide academic excellence for as many students as possible while reminding them that their lives matter. 

What is the need for Same As U?

According to the Disability Status Report by Cornell University, our state is home to approximately 467,900 adults with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 21-64. While some with fewer limitations may be able to work a part-time or full-time job, many are left behind upon leaving the school system. Many parents must continue to work, forcing them to leave their adult child at home alone, or hire full-time help or rely on family and friends to help meet their unique needs. 


There is no “empty nest” for parents of adults with developmental disabilities. Due to the tremendous need and demand for more meaningful programming within the community, Same As U opened its doors on January 14, 2020, with eight students. Same As U now serves over 60 students and families. 

 

Same As U is set in a college-like setting but the one thing missing is our campus.

Make Room for the Future

Same As U has an opportunity to buy an existing church in Hamilton County that is uniquely laid out to be conducive to learning, hosting student activities, and provide immediate room for growth.


The costs associated with this Generosity Campaign include purchasing the building, renovating the current footprint to create six classrooms, a library, and workspaces as well as update the gymnasium, lobby, and kitchen space. 


Our fundraising goal of $1.5 million will cover the entire cost of buying an existing church building and making necessary renovations to allow for our programming. With your help, we can create a forever home for Same As U.
